What to expect when you see an Osteopath

 

Osteopaths treat people in pain. We work out what is causing your pain and work with you to rectify it. This involves taking an extensive history, doing an examination which will involve moving your muscles and joints and then treatment will be targetted to the area we believe is causing your pain. Treatment is predominantly hands on and may involve stretching, joint articulation or manipulation (if appropriate) and you may be given exercises to assist in building strength of an area or stretches to loosen an area. Treatment is specific to you and takes into consideration your overall health, goals for your physical ability and aims to assist you to return to your pre-pain activities.

You do not need a referral to see us but if you have a chronic complaint then a GP can refer you under a Medicare scheme where you receive some money towards the cost of a consultation.

You can claim your treatment on private health cover and most funds pay an amount towards the cost.
